Mens Christian Dining Event

What  do our guests think of our Inspire evenings?

Pastor Bob Almond  ( Blog)

Had an amazing evening last night – Mike Howitt (Leicester Christian Praise) took me along as a guest to the ‘Inspire’ Men’s Christian Dining Club – an opportunity to eat a good meal, and listen to a speaker talking about his/her life

So – first, the meal. The event is held in the ‘Taste’ restaurant at Leicester College – and the students on the (highly respected) Hospitality and Catering course there are the chefs. Here’s the menu:

Avocado, Vanilla poached Fig & Goat’s Cheese Salad

Home churned Pomegranate sorbet

Rump of Lamb, marinated in Rosemary & Garlic; Dauphinoise Potatoes, with a Port & Redcurrant sauce; Roasted vegetables

Baked American White Cheesecake with a Berry compote

It was quite superb – beautifully cooked, and very professionally presented. Even the coffee was good – and you know how much of a snob I am when it comes to coffee.

Then on to the speaker, who was Ally Kay, Director of Derby City Mission, former soldier with the French Foreign Legion, and co-ordinator of Derby City Street Pastors. He took us on a journey through his life – and a powerful story it was too. Really inspiring evening. And a group I’d recommend to anyone looking to introduce a friend to faith in a way that is free from ‘cringe’! There are contact details on the group’s website

I know I am just the wife, but I do thank you from the bottom of my heart, for the hard work you put into "Inspire".

There is such a lot of prayer, preparation, and financial organisation that goes into these events (Been there, worn the tee-shirt!!!!) and its so great when you hear how God is working, and non Christians are coming along not just for a good evening, but are being challenged by God, and want to know more.

One of our friends is so interested, not only has he been coming to alpha, he now wants to join a cell group!! He really is on the brink of making a commitment to our Saviour, its so thrilling for us, as we thought he would be the last one to even consider coming to a "Christian Event". How wrong we can be! We never see the bigger picture do we? God really does work in mysterious ways!!!

Thank you again, we really do appreciate what you do.

God Bless the three of you, '

I just wanted to let you know that after Tuesday Dan (non churched) who attended the evening and works for me spent the whole day talking about the event. Later in the day Gordon (non churched) called in to see us and again Dan and Gordon spent quite some time talking. I think we will be there in December and hopefully with our wives.

 Great work and thank you.

P.S. Gordon was especially impressed that you know everyone by name.

Where does one begin to say thanks for a wonderful evening we were made to feel welcome and what friendly people.
'Swanny' was great and each one of us enjoyed our night out. WELL DONE.

Please keep us informed of future events.
Best Regards. Thanks. and God Bless. From John and the guys from Whetstone. WELL DONE.
